An extensive extended voyage circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the death of an older female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the group for a pause. The liner left without her and came back after some time after the ship staff became aware the lady was not present.

A major search operation located her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that travelers and personnel on the ship were notified that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also released an updated statement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Captain" prohibiting any additional guests from entering the ship.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the port city upon its coming back.
